The R package “MIIVsem” provides functions for estimating structural equation models using model-implied instrumental variables. One benefit of this approach is the ability to manage a larger number of variables than traditional SEM estimation. A second benefit is that errors in the model structure of effects (i.e., misspecification) become isolated and do not perpetuate. This minimizes the bias in estimates when the model is misspecified.
This R package was developed by Zack Fisher in close collaboration with Katie Gates & Ken Bollen.
